Commonly Asked Questions
Do you rent metal detectors? No, I don’t; however, you can use my services to locate your missing items.
What kinds of locations can you metal detect? I have various metal detectors, which can be used for all kinds of conditions, from finding items in the grass, in mulch, soil, or in the sand at beaches or in the water to find items. I can find items lost at parks, backyards, gardens, woods, in snow, at the beach, or in the surf.
Will my yard have dug holes in it? If it was recently lost, it will probably not be that deep. If I have to dig, I use special shovels and make a plug to ensure little to no evidence I dug a hole, leaving little to no trace I was there, leaving the property as if I wasn’t there.
I lost my wedding ring far out in the waves. Can you get it? It depends on how rough the waves are and how far offshore and how deep the item was lost. Some of these recoveries can be difficult. I will try my best. That is all I can guarantee.
What if you are busy or too far away? I have a large network of colleagues around California and the United States who are expert metal detectorists and, with your approval, can arrange for one of them to come to find your lost item with their metal detector if they are close and available to where you lost it.
What is your background in metal detecting?
For starters, I own FocusSpeed.com, a website discussing tips for advanced metal detectorists. I have been metal detecting for many years. It is my passion; on average, I detect for fun at least twice a week. I have reunited many lost items with their owners
COST
During our phone call, we can discuss and agree on a fee that covers travel, time, and expertise. Typically, I ask that travel expenses are covered, and if the lost item is successfully recovered, a recovery fee is determined by you based on the item’s importance and what you feel is reasonable and affordable.
My goal is to keep the process fair and transparent while reflecting the experience, specialized equipment, and time involved in locating lost items.
